About Precious Plastic Vientiane
Precious Plastic Vientiane is a youth-led initiative based in Vientiane capital, Laos, aiming to address plastic waste pollution through youth engagement and practical upcycling initiatives. The project is dedicated to educating and involving young people in the fight against plastic waste, while also providing them with the platforms and knowledge to create upcycled initiatives. Our team is passionate about making a positive impact on the environment and empowering the youth to be change-makers in their community.
Our Mission
At Precious Plastic Vientiane, we are committed to tackling the issue of plastic pollution and its detrimental effects on the environment, particularly in Laos. Our mission is to inspire and mobilize the youth to actively participate in waste collection, upcycling, and environmental conservation efforts. Through our initiatives, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable practices and the impact of plastic waste on our ecosystems.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a cleaner and greener future for Vientiane by transforming plastic waste into valuable resources. We envision a community where plastic pollution is minimized through widespread upcycling practices, and where the youth are at the forefront of driving positive environmental change. By fostering a culture of innovation and environmental stewardship, we strive to build a sustainable and plastic-conscious society.

Our journey
2022

16 December 2022: Precious Plastic Vientiane project was founded.

Launched environmental campaign under grant support from Youth Innovation Challenge 2022.
2023

Recieved grant support from YSEALI Enviro-Tech 2023 program.

184 Kgs of plastic wastes (HDPE and PP) were collected and upcycled.
-
256 keychains and 219 necklaces were upcycled from collected plastic wastes.

298 youths were involved and engaged.

Recieved grant support from YSEALI Summit 2023.

Conducted workshops, trainings, waste collection week, and environmental campaign to promote sustainable plastic waste management.

540 Kgs of plastic wastes were collected, donated and upcycled.

15 sets of school tables and benches were upcycled from collected plastic wastes and donated to Simoungkhoun school, Nan district, Luang Prabang province, Laos.
